The Impact of Effective Thyroid Disorder Management
Improved Metabolism and Energy Levels
Proper diagnosis and treatment of thyroid disorders help restore normal metabolism, leading to better energy levels and overall well-being.
Prevention of Complications
Early and accurate treatment of thyroid disorders can prevent serious complications, such as heart problems, osteoporosis, and infertility.
Enhanced Quality of Life
With the right treatment, patients experience fewer symptoms like fatigue, weight gain/loss, and mood swings, leading to a more balanced, healthier life.
What’s the Difference Between Hypothyroidism and Hyperthyroidism?
- Hypothyroidism: A condition that occurs when the thyroid gland doesn’t produce enough hormones, leading to symptoms such as fatigue, weight gain, and depression.
- Hyperthyroidism: A condition that occurs when the thyroid produces too much thyroid hormone, causing symptoms like rapid heart rate, weight loss, and anxiety.
Both conditions are treatable with proper diagnosis and care at Aura Endocrine and Diabetes.
How Are Thyroid Nodules Diagnosed and Treated?
- Thyroid Nodules: Nodules are growths on thyroid follicular cells. Although most nodules are benign, we at Aura are trained to identify and biopsy high-risk nodules that can be cancerous. We use advanced thyroid ultrasound techniques to diagnose nodules and, if needed, perform in-office biopsies to determine their nature. Thyroid nodule biopsy is an office-based procedure and patients can go back to regular activity the same day.
What Are the Treatment Options for Thyroid Cancer?
- Thyroid Cancer: Treatment may include surgery, radioactive iodine therapy, or hormone therapy. At Aura, we also perform in-office lymph node biopsies to manage thyroid cancer and assess its spread. We do follow the latest treatment guidelines put forth by ATA.
